Shelter webinar on Post Contractual Requirements under the Consumer Credit Act 1974 now available

By Isabelle (IMA) in on Dec 20, 2019

The Shelter team have produced a recorded webinar ‘Post contractual provisions under the Consumer Credit Act 1974’ with an accompanying resource document. You can watch the webinar here and read the resource here.

The resource includes an introduction to the subject, guides to checking statements and notices, template letters for complaining to creditors, a template defence that can be used for unsecured and secured loans with a guide to completing the defence.

The 35 minute webinar recording covers the key points to consider when using the post contractual provisions. This includes a conversation with Bradford CAB adviser Michael Agboh-Davison, discussing a successful outcome using the post contractual provisions with support from the Specialist Debt Advice Team. Repossession was prevented and the outstanding balance was reduced substantially.

The Specialist Debt Advice Team will hold a live Q&A session on 30th January 2020, for those who have watched the webinar, read the resource and have questions. A sign up link and details of how to pre-submit your questions will be circulated in the coming weeks.

In the meantime, if you’re using the guidance to support a client and you require assistance, please contact the SDAS online or by phone 03300 580 404.
