Studying CertMAP offers several benefits for advisers, organisations and clients
Develop your money advice skills and knowledge with expert tutor support
Together with Staffordshire University we provide expert learning materials and guidance for your learning. You will have access to ongoing peer support through online discussion with fellow CertMAP students and support from course tutors if you need it.
Increase client and creditor confidence in your advice
Previous students have told us that CertMAP accreditation has increased creditors’ confidence in their competence to deliver quality advice, which has helped deliver better client outcomes. This is particularly relevant now that Accredited Members of the IMA can use our new Accredited Member logo, e.g. in their email signatures.
Demonstrate your expertise to employers, funders and others
CertMAP has helped graduates to:
- secure employment
- progress into new roles
- develop greater expertise.
It has also helped organisations to:
- recruit skilled and competent money advisers, by requiring CertMAP qualified applicants
- secure funding, by demonstrating the competence and quality of CertMAP qualified staff
- develop strategic partnerships.
Is your service funded by the Money and Pensions Service (MaPS)?
Passing CertMAP proves that you individually meet MaPS accreditation requirements, which helps your service meet organisational requirements for MaPS funding.
Obtain a higher education qualification
CertMAP is a higher education qualification from Staffordshire University at level 4 (equivalent to first year undergraduate study).
Gain IMA accreditation and the right to use the MIMA (Cert) initials after your name
IMA accreditation is the only individual money advice accreditation scheme and stays with you. Using MIMA (Cert) means your professionalism stands out and it is now a requirement by many employers recruiting money advisers.
You maintain your accreditation by complying with our Continuing Professional Development (CPD) scheme.
Access to Staffordshire University’s alumni scheme
As a student you are entitled to join the alumni scheme, meaning Staffordshire University can keep in touch with news, advice and further career support.
