How to Raise an Appeal in the County Court
Aims and objectives:
To enable advisers who have represented clients at court with meritorious cases and which have been unsuccessful to continue the challenge the first level decision, either of the County Court or in Bankruptcy matters.
By the end of the course participants should be able to:
- Identify what issues can be used as an 'error of law' and so provide the hook on which to lodge an appeal
- Deal with preparing the appropriate skeleton argument and the use of legal authorities
- Identify tactical advice on how to deal with a difficult opponent and to deliberate confusion often deployed by the other side
On completion of the course advisers should be able to identify appropriate cases with merit and prepare the court documents to lodge an appeal.
Please note that this course is designed for experienced advisers and those who are familiar and comfortable with the use of Civil Procedure Rules, either through experience or those who have attended 'Finding and Using County Court Rules in Money Advice'.
