Branch representatives
Branch Representatives are elected by the members in their Branch to serve for three years. They provide a conduit between the Council of the Institute and the Branches and vice versa. In the main this involves: to report the Branch’s views to the Council and where necessary vote at Council meetings on behalf of the Branch; and secondly to take back to the Branch a full report of the outcomes of all Council meetings for discussion by the Branch.
The format of Branch meetings varies between each Branch. Branches should hold at least four meetings each year, some will meet every 6 weeks and therefore hold eight meetings a year. Meetings should last for at least half a day though some take place over a whole day and involve guest speakers or training and workshops elements.
Branch meetings in some regions are run in partnership with other agencies in the free sector and are open to non-members. However, we would encourage non-members to join the Institute to take advantage of the other benefits this provides.
